Christ Classical Academy stands alone as our area’s only private classical, Christian school. For this reason, we place a high value on hiring men and women who are called to work and serve at CCA.
CCA is not only a school but is also a ministry, and we are blessed with a wonderful team united in fulfilling the purpose and furthering the mission of CCA. It is our pleasure to announce new board members and new faculty/staff members for the 2025-2026 school year!
Board Members
Zach Bearden: We are blessed to have CCA parent Zach Bearden joining our board this year. He is married to his wife Callie, and they have three children (their oldest, Betsy, will be in 1st grade at CCA this year. Zach serves as the Worship Pastor at First Baptist Dyersburg and is actively involved in the community. Thank you, Zach, for your willingness to serve on the CCA Board!
Leah Pugh: What a joy it is to have CCA parent Leah Pugh joining our board this year. She is married to her husband Steve, and they have three children who attend CCA (James-9th grade, Avery-7th grade, & Evelyn-5th grade). Leah is an RN and also coaches CCA’s middle school and high school XC teams and serves as CCA’s volunteer Athletic Director. We welcome Leah to the CCA Board!
Lower School Team
1st Grade Teacher, Kelley Goodlett: We are excited to welcome veteran teacher Kelley Goodlett as our new 1st grade teacher! She comes to CCA from Trimble Elementary and has 30 years of teaching experience in early elementary grades. We are very blessed to have Kelley on our team!
5th Grade Teacher, Amanda Bivens: It is our pleasure to announce Amanda Bivens as our new 5th grade teacher! She comes to CCA from Dyer County Schools where she served as Instructional Coach for 3rd-5th grades for all county elementary schools. Prior to that, she taught 5th grade for many years. She is both highly qualified and experienced! Her son Samuel will also be joining our kindergarten class. Join us in welcoming them both to CCA!
Upper School Team
Middle School ELA & High School English Studies, Katie Irvin: We are excited to have Katie Irvin moving up from 5th grade to join our upper school team this year. She is highly qualified and has many years of experience teaching middle school and high school and will make a great addition!
High School Chemistry & Biology, Cherie Kirby: Join us in welcoming CCA parent Cherie Kirby to our upper school team. Mrs. Kirby earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and went on to attend graduate school to earn a master’s degree from UAB in Physical Therapy. She homeschooled her own children for many years and is very comfortable teaching higher level science courses. Welcome to our team!
Upper School Math & Middle School Literature, Michelle Poole: It is a joy to welcome Michelle Poole to CCA! Certified in math and English with many years of teaching experience, she brings a lot to the table. Fun facts--Mrs. Poole is from South Africa (and has a lovely accent) and also has three sons joining our student body. CCA extends a big welcome to the Poole family!
Middle School Science, Allison Witherington: In addition to teaching math, Mrs. Witherington will also be teaching middle school science this upcoming school year. Thank you, Allison, for taking on a new challenge!
Enrichment Team
Elementary Art, Mary Pool: We are excited to have CCA parent Mary Pool as our new Elementary Art teacher. With a degree in art and a passion for the classical model of education, we have full confidence in her ability to engage students' creative abilities.
Elementary PE, Allison Rogers: Join us in welcoming CCA parent Allison Rogers as our new Elementary PE teacher. She has been involved at CCA as a volunteer and substitute teacher for many years and is excited to join our team in an official role.
High School Boys PE, Craig Tennant: It is our pleasure to announce CCA grandparent Craig Tennant as our new High School Boys PE teacher. Craig has proven himself to be highly dependable and engaging as a member of our volunteer security team this past school year, and he is certain to bring those same qualities to this new experience.
Admin Team
Director of Finance, Beth Tillman: We are proud to announce Beth Tillman as our new Director of Finance. She has a background in bookkeeping and has been working hand-in-hand with Teresa Evans for many months to help make this transition as smooth as possible.
Lunch Coordinator: Teresa Evans: We are blessed to have Teresa Evans filling the position of Lunch Coordinator. She is very familiar with CCA's lunch coordinator role and will also continue to train Beth Tillman and assist the admin team as needed.
Other
Focus Leader: Mandy Bryant is CCA's new Focus Leader! She will be leading worship in Focus Monday-Thursday. A big thank you to Mrs. Mandy for her willingness to use her musical gifts for the benefit of CCA.
Focus Band Sponsor: Chelsea Wilson is CCA's new Focus Band sponsor! She will work with upper school students to lead worship in Focus on Fridays. Thank you, Mrs. Chelsea, for using your talents!
Drama Club Sponsor: Cherie Kirby will lead CCA's Drama Club this year. She assisted with last year's production and agreed to take the lead this year. We are excited for this year's Drama Club!
