As we near the end of the first quarter, I find myself reviewing our purpose and mission statements as well as our strategic objectives. If you have been part of the CCA family very long, you know that we talk about these a lot, but we do not just talk about them, we allow them to guide what we do at CCA. They-along with our core values-are essential in developing the salt and light (spiritual life) component of the culture we are seeking to establish here. In this and future articles, I would like to examine our core values because they are the guidelines that keep our purpose and mission moving
forward.
The first of our core values is being "biblically centered." God's word is essential and authoritative in all that we do at CCA. It is our commitment to the importance of God's word that leads us to have students to memorize scriptures, to recite scriptures, to study scriptures, and to practice the principles found in Scripture. Our commitment does not end with what we teach our students. We want God's word to guide how we make decisions, how we structure our days, and how we teach and mentor students.
To be effective in establishing this type of culture, being "biblically centered" must extend into the homes of the individual families that make up the larger CCA family. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 calls for us as parents to ensure that the truths, principles, and commands of God's word are handed down to our children that they may in turn hand them down to their children. I want to challenge you to make sure that God's word is a priority in your family this year. Find time to read, study, and discuss God's word together. I have included a link (https://bibleproject.com) in this article that will give you access to the bible project's resources to assist you in this endeavor. You can find podcasts, articles, Bible reading plans, an app, and videos to help you lead your family in making the Bible a centerpiece of your family's activities this year. I hope and pray you will find them useful. Until the next time, may God grant you and yours His peace, presence, provision, and protection.
